On February 13, a fierce blizzard swept through many places in the United States, causing at least three people to die and air traffic was severely congested. At many airports in northern and central cities, hundreds of flights cannot take off in dense snow.

According to the meteorological agency, heavy snow falls in New York state and progresses further east. Many areas were covered under a layer of snow more than 3 m thick.

In the states of Illinois, Kansas, South Dakota, snow is approximately 30 cm thick . According to Dennis Feltgen, of the US Meteorological Agency, this is a widespread snowstorm that makes some areas snow average up to 1.22 m. According to preliminary records, three people were killed due to bad weather.

Severe weather caused many airports to cancel flights. Among them, United Airlines has to cancel more than 600 flights scheduled to depart on February 13, American Airlines canceled more than half of flights at Chicago airport and nearly 40% of flights at Washington airport. Air traffic at airports like Chicago O'Hare is seriously disturbed with more than 50% of flights suspended. This situation was repeated at New York airport.

Meteorological agency said strong snowstorms will last at least until February 14.
