"My niece, Cara Hotaling, saw the fish buried in the sand," Starr said . "We were all curious what made the bubbles on the sand. We made a lot of predictions while waiting for the seawater to recede and see the face of the fish."

The fish was identified as an astrological fish (Astroscopus guttatus). They often hide under the sand and wait for prey like small fish, crabs and crustaceans to swim by. Their eyes are on the top of the head and look upwards, leading to the name of astrology.

This fish has a dark brown body with white spots, which can be 56cm long, mainly living in deep and deep waters in the Chesapeake Bay along the Atlantic Ocean between New York and North Carolina, USA.

Despite its scary form, astrological fish are not dangerous to humans. However, the discharge device on its head could generate enough electricity to paralyze the prey and drive away predators.
