Shopping faster and more convenient

The advancement of modern technology makes shopping faster and more convenient than ever. Becky Worley, a technical writer for ABC, introduces two new technologies that can change our way of shopping.

Buy by mobile

With the popularity of online shopping technology, millions of people around the world are losing their shopping habits in stores or supermarkets. According to Becky, about 3% of Americans choose to buy goods on cell phones. As more and more people are accessing the Internet via mobile phones, retailers are adjusting their business model to turning a cellphone into a mobile shopping mall.

Billionaire Ralph Lauren, founder of the Polo fashion company, said in a statement this month that the company would include ads for its catalogs on the Internet. With a camera phone, customers can view and purchase goods anywhere. According to Becky, in Japan, this technology is so prevalent that bar-coded icons are also posted on signs, cars, even on temporary tattoos and tombstones.

'Magic mirror'

This is a brand new technology from American design company Nicholson Interactive to help consumers "collectivize" the purchase. After picking a few suits, customers bring in a test room with a 'magic mirror', wear clothing and broadcast their photos directly to the Internet. Through the Internet, friends and relatives can directly comment on the design, color ... of clothing without being present at the store. This technology is called 'social retailing' by Icon Nicholson.
