Ship PSLV-C16 carries X-Sat satellite launched from Satish Dhawan Space Center in India.
X-Sat satellite, weighing 105kg, was put into orbit by Isro's Polar satellite launcher (PSLV-C16) on April 20. Currently, X-Sat is in orbit and is establishing contact information with the ground control department at Nanyang Technological University.
The satellite is responsible for taking photos to measure soil corrosion and environmental changes on Earth.
X-Sat was designed and built by Nanyang Technological University (Singapore) and a researcher from Singapore Ministry of Defense for more than nine years. With the successful launch of the X-Sat satellite, Singapore has become one of the first countries in Southeast Asia to have domestic satellites on space.
Previously, satellites launched by Singapore were built with the help of foreign companies.
