The newly born dragon is 40cm long, perfectly healthy and the first Komodo dragon born outside Indonesia, home to the world's largest lizard.

Speaking at a press conference, Assistant Director Biswajit Guha Zoo said that the successful breeding of Komodo dragon is a meaningful event of Singapore Zoo, which has not had much experience with this reptile. .

According to Mr. Guha, breeding Komodo dragons in captivity is not easy because of difficulties in pairing as well as inexperienced broods.
