Slow breathing can lower blood pressure
Experts at the National Institutes of Health say slow and deep breathing (less than 10 times per minute) and doing this exercise a few minutes a day can help some people limit high blood pressure.
Meditation, yoga and similar relaxation methods combined with slow and deep breathing can help lower blood pressure. Tests showed that using a device to help slow breathing for about 15 minutes / day for 2 months helped the blood pressure index drop by 10-15 points.
It is unclear why the deep and slow breathing has an effect on regulating body blood pressure. According to lead researcher David Anderson, it is possible that deep and slow breathing helps the blood vessels temporarily relax and expand.
