Solar storms are about to explode

A giant black spot appeared on the sun and its area increased very rapidly, signaling the outbreak of a strong solar storm over the next few days.

The Solar Dynamics Observatory satellite of the US Aerospace Agency discovered giant black spots on February 20.

"The diameter of the black spot is more than 6 times the diameter of the earth, but we cannot judge its true size, because it is on a sphere, not a plane," Karen Fox, the transmitter speech of Goddard Space Flight Center, said.

In fact, the giant black spot is a collection of many smaller black spots. Their sizes skyrocketed on February 19 and February 20.

"The presence of giant black spots is a sign of a strong solar storm in the coming days , " Fox said.

The sun is in a positive phase of its 11-year cycle. The activity of the sun during a positive period will peak at some point in 2013.

Sunspots form in areas where magnetic field activity is strong. The temperature in the black spot is lower and their brightness is only 1/4 of the brightness of the surrounding area. Strong solar storms often appear from dark spots and they release streams of charged particles into space.

The scientific world divided the solar storm into three levels C, M and X, where X is the strongest. Solar storms of level X can cause storms from the planet's upper layer. The interaction between charged particles from the sun and the earth's magnetic field can cripple radio waves. M-level solar storms can cause radio signal loss in the two polar regions of the earth for short periods of time. The impact of Class C solar storms is often very small and rarely detected.
