About two minutes after leaving the launch pad, the two floors of the rocket separated and eight minutes later, the first floor of the rocket successfully landed on a floating pedestal placed in the Pacific Ocean, marking the first time. The 10 new satellites are part of Iridium's global plan to upgrade its telecommunications system. Under this $ 3 billion project, Iridium will launch 81 satellites into space in the coming months.
This launch marks SpaceX's seventh success in the goal of recovering missiles to reuse to reduce the cost of each launch.
