Storm has doubled in the last century

Accurate figures confirm scientists' concerns: The number of hurricanes formed on the Atlantic Ocean has doubled in the last 100 years, along with the warming of surface seawater.

According to the report: from 1905 to 1930, the Atlantic Gulf coast averaged 6 storms each year, of which 4 developed into strong storms.

But from 1931 to 1994, this number jumped to 10 storms and 5 strong storms. From 1995 to 2005, the average number of storms was 15 and formed 8 super typhoons. Even in 2006, seen as a " peaceful " year, there were also 10 typhoons.

"We are in a tendency to increase the frequency of tornadoes and unstable tropical storms," said Dr. Greg Holland, director of micro-meteorology at the National Center for Atmospheric Research in Colorado, USA. , the author reports and judges.

The research team believes that human-induced climate change, which increases the surface temperature of the sea, is the main factor behind the rise of these storms.
