He recently approved a device that can save thousands of people from the risk of stroke by detecting abnormal heart rhythms early, according to Express.

On January 16, he approved the WatchBP Home A tool to help detect people at risk of stroke.

Every year in the UK, at least 1 million people experience atrial fibrillation (AF, heart beating very fast and disordered, weakening the heart) and about 12,500 people die from stroke related to the condition this.

Can prevent stroke

Abnormal heart rhythms can cause lightheadedness, shortness of breath and heart palpitations. However, many people have no symptoms and are completely unaware that they are in danger.

Experts say 4,500 cases of stroke can be prevented if patients with the disorder are appropriately treated.

National Institute for Clinical Excellence (NICE) in the UK recommends that 34,000 polyclinics in the UK should be equipped with this WatchBP Home A device.

It is a blood pressure monitor that automatically detects abnormal heart beats.

If the device detects abnormal heart rhythms, the doctor will ask the patient to conduct additional tests. Based on that, doctors will consider treating the blood clots, preventing the risk of stroke.
