A strong earthquake last night

A strong earthquake last night ' hit ' the Hindu Kush mountains of Afghanistan and rocked many other large areas of the country and neighboring Pakistan.

There have been no reports of damage and casualties.

The earthquake occurred at 10:14 pm (local time) and was centered in the remote Hindu Kush mountains, about 250km north of Kabul. Since this area was divided, it took hours for information about the situation in the region.

The US Geological Survey said the initial quake was 6.0 richter, while Pakistani officials said it had a 6.1-magnitude magnitude.

Vibration may feel in Kabul, northwest Pakistan and the capital Islamabad, causing some buildings to shake.
