Successfully experimented with a method to kill 99% of cancer cells

American scientists destroyed cancer cells in the laboratory with a special vibrating molecule, stimulated with near-infrared light.

The research team from Rice University, Texas A&M University and the University of Texas (USA) said their new method is based on the aminocyanine molecule . In the experiment, these molecules were excited by near-infrared light, causing them to vibrate in sync.

This impact will break down the cancer cell membrane, thereby completely destroying the tumor.

The aminocyanine molecule is originally used as a synthetic dye in diagnostic imaging techniques. In low doses, they are used to identify cancer cells in the body.

According to the study authors, the new method is a marked improvement on an old type of cancer-killing molecular machine - called a Feringa-type motor , which also aims to disrupt cell structure.

The aminocyanine application method can be considered a completely new generation of cancer-killing molecular machines, moving faster and more effectively.

By using near-infrared light instead of visible light, it will allow scientists to go deeper into the body.

For example, they can access bone and internal organ cancers without the need for surgery.

The new results published in the journal Nature Chemistry  come from an experiment based on cultured cancer cells.

They were successful beyond their expectations when this method, which they called " molecular drill", killed 99% of cancer cells.

This method has also been tested on mice with melanoma - a type of "killer" skin cancer - and achieved success.

The research team is continuing to work toward clinical trials to incorporate this method into real treatment regimens, as well as testing a number of other molecules with similar uses.
