Successfully tested anti-cancer vaccine - 12 people cured

Is it possible that humans will never get cancer - the problem of the century?

There are many types of cancer and to find a really effective method for each patient is not simple, it takes a lot of testing. If the test time is too long, the patient is almost sure of death.

So, experts still cherished to find effective treatments for all types of cancer. And now, science has started to look for a vaccine - which only hunts for viruses and bacteria - with the idea of "modulation" to attack cancer cells.

This new vaccine contains cancer antigen - neoantigen.

Specifically, recently, experts from Dana-Farber Cancer Institute (Boston, USA) have announced a new cancer treatment at the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR). According to Catherine Wu, the lead researcher, their vaccine has helped 12 patients successfully prevent skin cancer from an early stage. At the same time, the patient's body is immune, unlike other drugs.

In fact, science has also created a number of vaccines against cancer, but it is ineffective because they only attack a single cancer protein. Meanwhile, the new vaccine contains cancer antigens - neoantigen - a mutant protein specific to each tumor in the body.

This is a specialized vaccine - that is, made exclusively for each patient - so it has a very high price.

More specifically, these mutant antigens will be created in the laboratory, after the doctor finds the gene code of the tumor. Next, the immune system receives a dose of neoantigen, thereby activating T lymphocytes to attack cancer cells.

And the results were amazing! Wu's experiments showed that the group of patients not only blocked the tumor, but also left no side effects, and the immune system worked extremely well. The follow-up process of the past 2.5 years has not seen any recurrence.

However, experts believe that being happy now is too early. Although the results are extremely promising, this method is still very new and requires further research to confirm.

Moreover, this is a specialized vaccine - that is, it is designed exclusively for each patient - so it is very expensive. Along with the time it takes to prepare for up to several months, it will be minor obstacles for cancer patients.

Large production costs and time are two obstacles to the new vaccine.

But in return, the safety and efficacy of vaccines are extremely promising. So, this is probably one of the greatest hopes for the fight against cancer - the problem of the century.
