Amateur divers have found more than 2,000 ancient gold coins weighing up to 6kg dating back thousands of years off the coast of the port city of Caesarea, Israel.

The Israeli Antiquities Administration announced that it had unearthed an extremely rare lead seal, dating from the famous Crusader period in history.

The gold coins found in a Crusader castle in Israel last month revealed a way of circulating money about 1,000 years ago, according to Bloomberg news published August 7.
