Taiwan has the first person to die from influenza A / H1N1

Taiwan health authorities on July 30 announced the first case of death from H1N1 flu on the island.

The patient was a 39-year-old man, hospitalized from July 14 after symptoms of sore throat and fever, Taiwan Center for Disease Control (CDC) said. According to CDC officials, patients suffer from hepatitis and liver cancer, dying from complications from liver problems and influenza A / H1N1.

On the same day, a local area in southern Taiwan announced the decision to temporarily shut down a high school after at least 10 students of the school confirmed infection with the H1N1 virus.

Taiwan has five cases of severe illness, three of which (including a six-year-old boy) receive special care.

More than 800 people around the world have died and tens of thousands of people have been sick from influenza A / H1N1 infection - the disease began to erupt in Mexico. The World Health Organization warns that the pandemic spread is now impossible to prevent.

Saudi Arabia is also investigating the first case of death from H1N1, the second person to die of a new flu in the Middle East. It is known that patients have never been abroad, and have no chronic disease.
