The study, conducted by biologists at the Australian National University (ANU), could serve as a training for animals in captive environments that recognize dangerous signals before being released into the wild.

Biologists have trained wrenches by playing strange sounds for them to listen to, and throwing a model of bird of prey like butchers or hawks through them.

After only 8 re-turns, the birds knew how to escape. Conversely, when other strange sounds are turned on, they remain in place.

'' The first bird we tested lived in ANU school yard near my office. Many people are unbelievable and excited to see the bird complete the task , '' said Robert Magrath, Professor at ANU's School of Biological Studies, who led the research.

Many animals collect information about danger by listening to each other, but the way they do this is still a question.

'' Recognizing the cries of other species is a remarkable ability, because there are many species in the natural environment and different types of cries. This is similar to understanding many different languages. ''
