After acquiring SolarCity, the Tesla Group announced a major energy project: supplying electricity to the entire island of Ta'u in the American Samoa archipelago from solar energy.
According to The Verge, Ta'u Island used to run oil as a source of energy for daily activities. But over the past year, Elon Musk's billionaire Tesla Corporation has installed its own grid from solar panels and storage batteries .
This completed and completed project will provide 1.4 megawatts, ensuring nearly 100% of the electricity demand for 600 residents on Ta'u Island.

The Ta'u power grid includes 5,328 SolarCity and Tesla solar panels, along with 60 Tesla Powerpacks to store electricity.
By acquiring solar power company SolarCity for $ 2.6 billion recently, Tesla officially entered the solar power business.
The Ta'u solar power project receives funding from both American Samoa and the US government (including the US Department of the Interior).
According to Tesla, their solar-powered project will replace the use of more than 109,500 gallons of diesel annually, plus the cost of transporting that fuel to the island. This is the amount of fuel a generator uses up in a year.
Tesla's solar power grid will provide the island with enough electricity for three days without the sun and only seven hours to fully charge the battery. Local businesses and essential operations such as hospitals, police and fire departments will use solar power.
"This project will help reduce carbon emissions ," said Keith Ahsoon, who lives on an island where the global warming is felt. coastal shocks and other significant changes are part of life here, which is a serious problem and hopefully this project will be a good example for people to follow. "
