The paleontologist Professor Erich Fitzgerald of the Victoria Museum said fossils are thought to be close to the Diprotodontid family, a weed-like herbivore, about 4 meters long, 2 meters tall and weighs about 3 tons. The giant marsupial appeared with several other species on this continent from millions of years ago.

In particular, the recently discovered fossil specimen is the most complete koala fossil ever in this area and probably the most intact fossil record discovered in Australia.

This important finding could help scientists understand the life and stage of this extinct marsupial, and identify the cause of the disappearance of the species about 40,000 years ago.
