Overcoming harsh weather conditions and tidal dependence, engineering teams and hundreds of workers successfully installed the first 10 wind turbines on the sea in the West.

In the afternoon of October 2, Bac Lieu Wind Power Project Management Board successfully installed the 10th wind turbine on the sea of ​​Bac Lieu city. This is the last turbine of phase 1 with a capacity of 16MW to be constructed in severe weather conditions due to high winds, large waves and especially dependent on high tides. Engineers and hundreds of workers worked day and night.

According to the Project Management Board, wind turbines are manufactured in the United States with a special stainless steel structure, 80m high, 4m in diameter, weighing over 200 tons. During construction, Ban had to hire a crane with a lifting capacity of 600 tons from Singapore. The impeller is made of special plastic, 42m long, with a self-folding control system to prevent damage to the storm.

Two years ago, Bac Lieu Wind Power Plant was started in the coastal area of ​​Vinh Trach Dong commune, Bac Lieu city (Bac Lieu) with a capital of VND 5,200 billion, by Cong Construction - Trading and Tourism Company Limited. Ly (Ca Mau) is the investor. As planned, after completing phase 2, the first wind power plant in the western region has 62 turbines, total capacity of over 99MW, annual electricity production of about 320 million kWh.

According to Mr. To Hoai Dan (General Director of Cong Ly Construction - Trade and Tourism Company Limited), electrical infrastructure items including 110kV, 22kV lines and 22 / 110kV transformer stations are being urgently tested. public to complete this month. When synchronizing, the electricity grid will be connected and connected in order to sell electricity in early November according to the first wind power trading contract in Vietnam signed on August 27.

From the success of Bac Lieu Wind Power Plant, the authorities continue to implement the Western Wind Power Center project in the coastal provinces of Tra Vinh and Soc Trang. After completion in 2015, the Western Wind Power Center has a capacity of about 500MW.
