The first three births of the world's smallest monkey

The triplets are born at the 2-month-old Shaldon (UK) Wildlife Center and begin to explore the world around.

Shaldon Wildlife Center in Devon County, United Kingdom has witnessed the growth and development of 3 healthy triplets.

This is considered an extremely rare case in squirrel-tailed macaque and is also the world's first triplets in this species.

Julie Matthews, Training Staff at the Shaldon center said, twins in squirrel monkeys occur quite a lot but triplets are very few. The recorded cases do not survive. Therefore, the survivability of these 3-month-old baby monkeys is considered a miracle.

Three squirrel-tailed monkeys are named Meeny, Miny and Mo. Recently, they began to explore their surroundings, jumped up and jumped on their father's back.

Squirrel-tailed macaque is the world's smallest wild monkey with a length of less than 15cm. However, this monkey species is now on the list of endangered species because their habitat is destroyed. They can only survive in a crowded environment with a diet that is full of live insects, acacia resins to encourage natural behavior.
