One child has Cushing syndrome (after 4 months).

Doctor Dao Trung Hieu, Deputy Director of Children's Hospital 1 said that girls were admitted to the hospital with overweight, hirsutism, abdominal cracks, increased blood pressure, abnormal round face like the moon . Patient diagnosed with adrenal hyperplasia on both sides, causing cushing syndrome. This syndrome is common in adults, rarely seen in children. Especially children with adrenal glands on both sides are extremely rare, the world only records more than 20 patients.

According to Dr. Hieu, the doctor must calculate the options for the big operation. Because the patient accumulates abnormal fat, the abdominal fat is very thick, the adrenal gland is high, so if the open abdomen in the traditional way, the access will be difficult. Doctors decided to undergo endoscopic surgery for patients although this method caused difficulties in anesthesia and surgery.

Dr Ha Van Luong, Deputy Head of Anesthesia Department, said that during the surgery, the adrenal gland cutting will lead to electrolyte disorders, heart rate, blood pressure . affecting the life of the patient should require ask for careful preparation for stability control before, during and after surgery. Normally, if one side of the young adrenal gland is operated, it will lie on its side. In this case, the child has surgery on both sides, so he has to lie on his back, requiring anesthesiologist and surgery to coordinate well.

After the surgery lasted more than 3 hours on September 15, the patient gradually recovered. Children are monitored continuously, supplementing oral cortisol hormones, treating blood calcium-lowering drugs to handle electrolyte disorders . It is expected that the baby will soon lose weight, cushing symptoms will gradually decrease.
