The king of physics is lazy to study when he was a child

Astronomical professor Stephen Hawking is one of the smartest minds on the planet, but by the age of 8 he could read and study deliberately at school.

Australian newspaper Adelaide Now said Hawking spoke to fans on October 20 in the Royal Albert Hall in London, England. During the lecture he told many things about childhood.

' Philippa's sister knew how to read when she was 4 and later she was smarter than me, ' Hawking began the story.

The 68-year-old astrophysicist admits that when he was in high school he was not an outstanding student and always ranked in the second half of the class in terms of academic achievement.

' My homework is always negligent, my words are teachers' disappointment. But classmates gave me the nickname Einstein. Perhaps they noticed something remarkable about me , 'he said.

Despite being awarded the prestigious University of Oxford honors, the professor told the audience that he was " lazy to the point of being unbelievable " when he was a student. Every day Hawking only spends about an hour to study.

' I am not proud of my laziness but just describe my academic view back then ,' he said.

At the age of 21, Hawking was diagnosed with muscle paralysis due to the loss of nerve cells - also known as Lou Gehrig's disease. People with this disease almost lose their ability to move.

When doctors said Hawking was only a few years away, he spent all his time and enthusiasm for scientific research. As a result, young scientists' productivity skyrocketed and many breakthrough achievements. For example, during the period from 1965 to 1975, Professor Hawking developed a hypothesis whereby black holes appeared after the Big Bang (cosmic birth event). He also said that there is a type of radiation emitted from dead stars. The scientific world calls it ' Hawking radiation '.

' When faced with the risk of dying early, you realize that life is very precious and there are many things you want to do, ' Hawking said.

Jim Al-Khalili, a professor of physics at Surrey University in England, also attended Hawking's lecture. He said that in the case of Hawking's illness, he still became a great scientist.

' It is obvious that the disease caused Hawking to devote his entire mind to scientific research, but if he did not get sick he would still be a leading physicist, ' said Al-Khalili.

Stephen Hawking has been considered the world's theoretical physicist for decades. He is known for his work on black holes in the universe. Hawking also attempted to pursue the goal of finding a ' unified theory ' to resolve the conflicts between Albert Einstein's theory of relativity and quantum theory. Hawking used to hold the position of Lucasian math professor at Cambridge University, England. This is also the title that Newton once held. The physical prince retired last year.
