Scientists say the eruption takes place on the surface of the Sun not facing the Earth, so it will have little impact on satellites and communication systems.

Space scientist Joe Kunches at the US Space Weather Center in Colorado states that there have been reports of brief interruptions of short-lived radio waves in Asia, but there is little information such as so in other places.

The Sun is now moving from a quiet period to a busy cycle. Scientists estimate that the number of solar eruptions above will increase dramatically in the next 3-5 years.

The last time a strong solar flare appeared was in December 2006.
