The Ministry of Health warns against mosquito-borne viruses transmitted by mosquitoes in Vietnam

The Department of Preventive Medicine (Ministry of Health) warns that Vietnam is located in the circulating region of Aedes mosquitoes that transmit viruses that are thought to cause brain microcephalopathy, encouraging people to raise their awareness of disease prevention.

Recently, information about the "brain-eating" Zika virus epidemic in Brazil has raised the interest of many countries around the world. Brazil's Ministry of Health announced that nearly 3,000 cases of suspected cerebral palsy, 40 deaths. Among babies with small cerebral palsy, there are babies who test positive for Zika virus and some are negative.

The World Health Organization is cooperating with the Brazilian Ministry of Health to investigate the relationship between Zika virus and small brain disease . In fact, there are many causes related to small brain disease in newborns such as infection, maternal toxin infection during pregnancy, genetic errors .

So far Vietnam has not detected any cases of Zika virus infection , however, the Preventive Medicine Department recommends that it should not be subjective, because our country is located in the dengue epidemic epidemic area with the circulation of Aedes mosquitoes transmitted Zika virus. Furthermore, the virus has been reported to cause illness in some Pacific, Southeast Asian countries, especially neighboring Thailand. The proximity of geography plus active tourism, trade, and labor exchanges in the region are potential for viruses to penetrate Vietnam.

The Ministry of Health is cooperating with the World Health Organization (WHO) to closely monitor the evolution and risks of diseases as well as strengthen measures to monitor and prevent epidemics. These agencies recommend that Zika virus disease does not yet have specific drugs and vaccines, so the most effective preventive measure is to limit the transmission of the virus by killing mosquitoes, mosquitoes and larvae. . Specifically, the Ministry of Health advised people to implement the following measures:

• Cover all water containers to prevent mosquitoes from laying eggs.
• Every week, kill larvae by putting fish into large water containers, washing small and medium water containers.Turn over water-free tools.Change water vase.Put salt or oil in a bowl of water to show your feet.
• Every week, remove waste materials, natural water holes for mosquitoes to lay eggs such as bottles, jars, bottles, coconut shells, broken pieces, old tires, bamboo holes and sheaths .
• Sleep in bed, wear long clothes to avoid mosquito bites, even during the day.
• Actively coordinate with the health sector during the spraying of mosquito killer chemicals to prevent and control epidemics.
• When you have a fever, immediately go to a medical facility for medical examination and treatment advice.Do not arbitrarily treat at home.

Zika virus was first recorded in 1947 in Uganda's Zika forest. Patients infected with this virus often have fever, rash, muscle pain, headache, eye pain. The main mode of transmission of Zika is mediated Aedes mosquitoes (type of mosquitoes that transmit dengue). Incubation period 3-12 days. Some evidence suggests that this virus can be transmitted through blood, sex and from mother to child at birth, but very rarely.

Zika virus continued to be recorded in Nigeria in 1954 and many countries in Africa, America and Asia. In 2013, Thailand had some cases of Zika virus infection.
