The Australian National University team discovered three FRB signals with Molonglo radio telescopes, near Canberra. In 2013, they realized that Molonglo's unique structure could help identify FRB, because its focal length was very large.

Molonglo telescope creates 1,000 TB of data every day. Software development researchers have the ability to flip through this huge amount of information to find FRB. The data from the telescope indicates that all three FBRs originate from the universe, but only one of them is precisely localized in a single galaxy. The FRB position is said to be the key to understanding their origin.
