Self-propelled robots are not the same as self-propelled cars.

This month, Starship Technologies began deploying 6-wheel delivery robots in four major European cities. The robots will be used by two food service providers, Just Eat and Pronto, in these areas and the Metro Group. Starship hopes that the new technology can reduce both time and cost associated with delivery.

Self-propelled robots are not the same as self-propelled cars. They are remotely controlled by the Starship staff until the machines are familiar with the forwarding area, and then they gradually automate. Starship estimates an employee can handle 100 robots at a time.

James Pratt, co-founder of Pronto, expects thousands of robots to be deployed next year. Currently, it costs about $ 15.53 to deliver a package in London. Starship wants to reduce costs to $ 1.29. However, there are only a few dozen robots to serve.

The robot has been tested more than 5,000 miles, serving more than 400,000 people. Up to now, no accident has been reported.
