The 12-year-old Shannon Hayes discovered tiny eggs beside other normal sized eggs in the chicken coop. It is about 1.8 cm long and less than a coin . " I'm confident to say that this is the smallest egg. It's very small and people won't want to use it for breakfast," Shannon said.

According to Mirror, Shannon lives with her parents in Capel Iwan, Carmarthenshire county. Her family raised 7 hens, but she did not know which one produced this egg. Shannon's grandmother said she brought eggs into the house and was only afraid of falling to the ground.
In 2011, a farmer in the United States announced that his chicken lays the world's smallest egg with a length of 2.1 cm. This record was defeated three years later when another chicken called Muffin lays eggs a bit smaller.
