For many people, losing light is the worst nightmare. Jewel Shuping (USA) considered it a dream come true. According to Fox News, a 30-year-old woman with a strange disease called Body Integrity Disorder (BIID) makes her want to destroy her body all the time. "I feel like I have to be like that, I should be blind right from birth," Jewel said.

In his childhood, Jewel wanted to be blind and hurt his eyesight by staring at the sun. At the age of 21 her "wish" became uncontrollable. A psychologist agreed to help the Jewel fulfill her aspiration by putting a drain on the eyes.

The Jewel family knew it was very angry and decided to cut off contact with her. Jewel has no regrets and wishes to help the blind community in the future."I know many people will be angry when someone harms themselves. If someone says I'm selfish when I make myself blind, I will respond selfishly when I refuse to help a sick person. This is not an option but a compulsive disorder of the brain, " she confided.

Jewel now studies education. She hopes her story will help the community to understand BIID and those who are sick will have the courage to find a doctor. The woman said: "Don't make yourself blind like I did. Maybe one day there will be a cure. This disease is really dangerous and requires help."
