The temple of the goddess Artemis was discovered in Greece's second largest island

Swiss archaeologists said on September 7 that they had discovered a temple of the goddess Artemis on the island of Eubée, the second largest island of Greek islands.

This is considered an important finding, promising to provide more information that has never been explored about Greek civilization and ancient customs.

In Greek mythology, the goddess Artemis is one of 12 gods atop Olympus. The goddess Artemis is a hunting god, a twin sister with the god Apollo - the son of the supreme deity Zeus and the goddess Leto.

Based on ancient texts and artifacts found in previous excavations, archaeologists believe that the temple of Artemis once existed on the island of Eubée.

After 10 years of searching, the team discovered this temple in the ground, under a house in the area of Erétrie - an ancient Greek city, located on the west coast of Eubée. Here, archaeologists have found the temple's terrace and the buildings show that this is a place of great significance, not merely a place of sacrifice.

The walls, worshiping objects and especially tiles with the words "Artemidos" prove that this place used to have buildings covered by unique tiles and used to commemorate the goddess Artemis. .

Existing excavations are being carried out to reveal the entire temple and look for the statue of the goddess Artemis, which archaeologists think will be very large, commensurate with the position of this god. on the island of Eubée.
