According to Jakarta Post, workers found an icebox containing 22 pieces of gold dating back to the 8th century in Ringilarik village, Musuk district, Java island, Indonesia, on September 7 when executing groundwater exploitation projects. During digging, they caught a box in the middle of stacked stones.

Sumardi, a 42-year-old worker, said the box had a lid and looked like a jewel case. Gutomo, head of the Java Central Heritage Conservation Authority (BPCB), confirmed the amount of gold found to be around 18 carats (one carat is equivalent to 0.2 grams). Each piece of gold engraved the ancient Java words, naming the wind gods in Hinduism.

"We recorded the names of 8 wind gods. We also recognize this archaeological position as a heritage," Gutomo said.

Gutomo said the BPCB will pay bonuses to those who find gold pieces as well as land owners. At the end of July, the ruins of a Hindu temple or Buddhism were also discovered at the same location.
