Dinosaur fossils were discovered on a farm in Montana, USA, in 1992 but it was not until 2003 that a group of fossil hunters excavated it.It belongs to a Triceratops dinosaur, who lived in the late Cretaceous, 65 million years ago.
The skull is auctioned in Hong Kong with a sale to individual owners, with an estimated price of $ 1.8 million or more . According to Shanghaiist, similar scale fossils are rarely sold to individuals and have never been sold in Asia. Despite legal ownership, clear paperwork and bringing to Hong Kong as prescribed, local experts do not believe it will be in a personal collection.
" Paleontologists cannot study fossils sold commercially and stored in personal collections. They can only publish research with cases in museums or similar organizations. " Michael Pittman, expert at Hong Kong University, said.
