Complete the world's longest tunnel in Switzerland

The Alps run through Switzerland and some European countries are one of the most poetic and beautiful mountains in the world today. However, this mountain range also faces a major obstacle as the road conditions are limited, preventing the development of many economic centers such as Zurich, Turin and Milan.

For that reason, the Swiss Government decided to spend about $ 10.3 billion in nearly two decades to complete the world's longest Gotthard Base tunnel project, through the Alps. Earlier, the record for the world's longest tunnel belonged to the Seikan tunnel in Japan with a total length of more than 26km.

It is expected that the test time will start from October 1 before completing and conducting the whole route.

The work is an attempt and effort to reach the magic threshold of nearly 2,000 Swiss workers since 1999 so far. However, it is quite regrettable that during the construction period, there were 8 deaths during construction.

As expected by the Swiss Government, after the testing and safety inspection is completed, the tunnel will be circulated at the time of June 2016. When the project is complete, passengers traveling from Zurich to Milan will take only 2 and a half hours compared to the previous long journey.

To celebrate the completion of the world's longest tunnel project, Switzerland decided to hold a major festival to announce the Gotthard Base tunnel. At this festival, a group of about 1,000 lucky people will be honored to experience this tunnel starting in January 2016.
