Throw Flame, a US-based flamethrower company, recently introduced the world's first flamethrower-equipped robot dog.
According to Oddity Central, robot dogs are not a new invention, having appeared in countries like China and are competing with real professional dogs. But the Thermonator robot dog has attracted attention with its outstanding features, never seen before in previous robots.

Thermonator is equipped with a high-performance flamethrower on its back, allowing the robot to spray fire up to 9 meters away. According to Throw Flame's website, the Thermonator robot allows users to remotely spray fire at any target. Throwflame introduces this as the world's first robot dog of its kind and is priced at 9,420 USD.
Thermonator is a 4-legged robot , equipped with enough battery to operate for one hour. It works with First-Person View (FPV) mode with built-in camera. FPV allows the operator to see what the robot observes in real time, currently used in many types of drones.
Another interesting feature of the robot dog is the use of LiDAR technology for navigation. LiDAR uses laser pulses to accurately and continuously measure distance to a given target or area. LiDAR sensors are light-based mapping and measurement tools that are extremely useful in many different fields. According to Throwflame, LiDAR also helps robots avoid obstacles and operate in remote areas.
Thermonator uses a compact and electrically powered ARC flamethrower. Video on Throwflame's website shows the robot dog running and jumping across a variety of terrain, from forests to snow-covered ground, while breathing fire. Weighing about 17 kg, the robot can be controlled remotely via Wi-Fi or Bluetooth.
This is the world's first robot dog of its kind and is priced at 9,420 USD.
Although it can be used as a weapon, the company asserts that the Thermonator is actually designed as a disease control tool, snow and ice removal tool, as well as to safely spray fire for movie scenes. .
Outwardly, Thermonator has a similar shape to the Chinese-made Unitree Go1 robot dog , with an additional flamethrower.
The Unitree Go1 is a relatively advanced robot, equipped with a series of built-in sensors and cameras. This type of robot is said to be a more affordable choice than other robot dogs - like Boston Dynamic's Spot.
The Unitree Go1 costs around $3,500, but Throw Flame has not yet announced a price for the flamethrower robot version. Currently, the company is accepting pre-orders and plans to launch this product in the third quarter of 2023.
