The research team applied Chinese medical knowledge to prove that sugar cane toads can effectively kill cancer cells, especially prostate cancer cells.

Although the toad has been used extensively in Asia for a long time, it is very dangerous in its pure form. Therefore, the team is trying to make the drug dissolved.

Project leader Harendra Parekh said after identifying a stable toxin, even after increasing the solubility, the next stage would be how to bring the toads to cancer cells through Medicine transfer method.

The University of Queensland research team was awarded a scholarship by Hong Kong Polytechnic University (China) and a mainland Chinese research institute.
