Tragically, the young girl keeps bathing
Katie Dell, 26, is one of 35 rare people in the world who suffers from dread: water allergy. But Katie was not allowed to be sad because of her illness, because if she cried, it was her tears that would make her rage all over her body and pain.
And because she had to avoid absolute water, Katie was not allowed to swim, swim and even take a long bath. She was not allowed to watch smelly stories or romantic movies, avoiding emotions in every way.
According to the Daily Mail , Katie also had to give up her job as a dance teacher, because sweat while she worked also made her body react.
From a minor surgery
Symptoms began to appear after her amputation surgery at 16 years old. Before that, Katie was just as normal as everyone else.
'After the surgery, I was prescribed penicillin, but later I found out that I was allergic to that antibiotic. Doctors believe that this may alter histamine (a biological amine in the local immune system, and act as a neurotransmitter) in my body. '
Katie's body rashes after taking a bath
Soon after, Katie realized she would have a rash and itching every time she came into contact with water. It was because this illness was so rare that doctors initially thought that Katie only imagined the disease.
Without receiving help from the hospital, Katie sought ways to explain her illness. She changed soap, shampoo and conditioner because she thought she was allergic to chemicals. Of course this doesn't work. Katie searched the Internet and found a disease with similar symptoms. She changed her diet, drank fever-reducing medicine, poured soda into the bath and tried herbal medicine . but still didn't improve the situation.
There is no cure
It wasn't until two years ago that Katie was diagnosed correctly. That makes her mentally softer, but not fun at all: the disease has no cure and is getting worse and worse.
'First my neck is itchy. Now my whole body is itchy, rash, hot and painful enough for me to cry. But I have to hold back, because otherwise my face will suffer the same situation , 'Katie said.
Previously, Katie used to like to soak in the bath, but now that is a dream of luxury. She had to limit bathing as much as possible and when it was impossible to "stop" , 2 minutes of contact with water was maximized. She had to ask for help from her husband: while she was washing her hair, she would take a bath. Only thing, two hours later, Katie would have to lie motionless because her body was too painful.
'Andy is a great husband. We have been together for 11 years and he is really good at my situation. He is a person who dries wet clothes, washes, washes dishes, markets when it rains. I can never thank him for it, ' Katie said.
