Transparent materials replace cement in the future

Imagine, one day, you lie in bed and want to watch the rain through your ceiling.

Imagine, one day, you lie in bed and want to watch the rain through your ceiling. Or you want the walls of your room to suddenly be transparent, so you can watch the night stars for example.

That may sound fanciful, but inventions often come from such things. Along with transparent cement , the above things can become a reality in the near future.

Built for the first time at Bergamo laboratory by the scientists of Italcementi company, this type of transparent cement is in step of model testing, and is named i.light .

The basic difference of this type of cement and cement is usually within the structure of cement after water penetration will form hydration, with hollow structure with many tiny holes, these small holes still ensure the sustainability as well as the whole structure of the building and still allow light to penetrate.

This more hollow hollow structure both helps reduce the amount of cement and saves cement production. Italcementi company has used all 189 tons of materials to make 3774 tons of transparent and semi-transparent cement. Each transparent cement board will have about 50 small holes and a transparency of nearly 20% while semi-transparent sheets will have about 10% transparency.

However, if only based on these lithium holes, the gravity of the cement is still quite limited. Previously, architects tried to add optical fibers to the cement mix, but Italcementi Group said this did not create a special effect. Chairman of Mr. Enrique Group said that it is possible to use plastic to make transparent cement which will make the price lower and catch brighter than using fiber.

Scientists and engineers are continuing to research to improve this product, increasing its transparency as well as its fairness. Certainly, in a near future, this special material will be used to create unique buildings and many utilities.
