Archaeologist Muazzez Ilmiye Cig has been prosecuted because in her book she has linked the cover of Islam with the Sumerian sexual rituals.

In the first day of trial, the trial panel ruled that her book was not guilty. Dr. Cig's publisher was also exempted from the trial during the trial that lasted less than half an hour. When leaving the courtroom, Mrs. Cig was welcomed by supporters.

This is the latest Turkish intellectual trial in a series of cases, involving Nobel Prize winner Orhan Pamuk and author Elif Shafak.

Ms. Cig was sued by a lawyer about the 2005 book " My Citizenship Reaction. " Previously to invite young people to have sex.

Mrs. Cig was an expert on Sumerian civilization, existed in the third century BC in Mesopotamia (now in southeastern Iraq). The headscarf theme has divided Turkey in recent years. Although mostly Muslim, Turkey is quite liberal and headscarves are banned at public offices and universities.
