Two-headed dolphin body washed up on the Turkish coast
(This week), a two-headed dolphin was discovered lying on a beach in Turkey.
This dolphin corpse was discovered washed ashore in Izmir, the west coast of Turkey on Monday by a gym teacher, Mr. Tugrul Metin.
The dolphin body is about the same size as a 1 year old calf, about 3.2ft long. It has two heads but the tail is only 1. Mr. Metin, 39, said: 'I noticed the dolphin in the sea and saw it when it was washed up to the coast'.
"I didn't realize it at first. I thought my eyes were fooling me. I never heard of a two-headed dolphin like this, I was completely shocked."
Metin called the police and they transported the dolphin to a lab for further research.
The first information shows that the eyes on one of the dolphins' heads cannot be opened - not one of the sprinkler holes.
Associate Professor Mehmet Gokoglu from the Department of Marine Biology at Ak Deniz University said he was happy to have the opportunity to study this strange dolphin, he said, "This two-headed dolphin is very rare, rare similar to the appearance of conjoined twins in humans ".
