A building in the Enterprise, Alabama town school, hit by a storm made at least five people dead. Meanwhile, a hospital in Georgia also suffered a storm, two people died.

The federal government has announced its willingness to help areas affected by the storm.

Some places in Alabama and Georgia are still in the weather warning. The US Hurricane Center (SPC) previously issued an alarm " particularly bad weather " for the eastern region of the country.

Heavy damage

Alabama state emergency official Yasamie Richardson said six people died at Enterprise, of which five were at a school.

Earlier, it was reported that the death toll was up to 15. Mrs. Richardson said the reason for such misunderstandings was because of the chaotic scene at the scene. At least 40 people were injured during the storm, moving at a speed of 80 kilometers per hour, spilling over the Enterprise.

Antoinette Konz, from a local newspaper called Montgomery Advertiser, told the BBC that the storm landed when the students were about to go home."We talked to a few parents when they came to school to pick up their children. They entered the door when they heard a cry: Lay down, lie down, storm. When they looked up, everything was gone."

Witnesses also said the roof and gym gym wall collapsed on the staff and students who were avoiding the storm there.

Alabama state governor Bob Riley declared a state of emergency and sent 100 soldiers to the Enterprise. He said: "The enterprise was the hardest and most seriously affected." Mr. Riley plans to visit a stormed school to directly monitor the impact of the storm.

Elsewhere in Alabama is Millers Ferry, another person also died from the storm.

There was also news of storms in the Arkansas state and Kansas states, damaging homes, gas stations and a power station in Linn County on the border between Missouri and Kansas. Bad weather caused storms from the state of Minnesota in the north to Louisiana on the shores of the Gulf of Mexico. The storm then moved, causing snowstorms in Washington state to Colorado.

Blizzard also occurred in Nebraska and Iowa, causing congested Nebraska roads.
