The 110-year-old ship is lying about 400 nautical miles from Newfoundland, Canada, on the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean.
OceanGate's team charges each guest $25,000 for the opportunity to join a submersible trip to see the wreck. OceanGate has completed two expeditions, and plans to do the same program next year. The video released by this group of the ship is of the highest quality ever.
'The amazingly detailed 8k footage will help our marine scientists and archaeologists accurately depict the ship's condition and how it will change as we continue filming into 2023 and beyond. later," Stockton Rush, president of OceanGate Expeditions, said in a statement.
The company says its expedition involved a team of historians, scientists and divers.
The video provides a clear view of the bow, starboard anchor, case number, chain, cargo hold and brass cover. The team hopes the footage can help determine how quickly the ship was rusting and aid archaeologists in studying the wreck.
