This study will evaluate the technology, personnel and safety required to achieve operational efficiencies, as well as share its findings with the US Federal Aviation Administration, which is developing the Rules for unmanned aerial vehicles in the country.

"We hope that through this collaborative sharing of knowledge, we can accelerate the process for CNN and media organizations to safely incorporate this new technology into events reporting. " Said David Vigilante, CNN vice president.

Researcher Mike Heiges of the Georgia Institute of Technology says that unmanned aerial vehicles now have some useful social applications, such as search and rescue, disaster response, agricultural mapping and season price

We are currently delighted to be joining CNN to study the application of unmanned aircraft information, said Mike Heiges.

The research project was launched in the context of a strong interest in unmanned aerial vehicles being used in areas beyond intelligence and military use, according to AFP.

US officials are considering new regulations that would allow civilian unmanned aircraft to share airspace with manned aircraft.

Unlike other states, the United States currently prohibits the use of commercial drone aircraft. Earlier this year, 16 major US media organizations accused the US Federal Aviation Administration of restricting press freedom by limiting the use of unmanned aerial vehicles for news hunting.
