Use an atomic bomb to destroy

The researchers suggest that the effective way to save the Earth from catastrophic destruction from asteroids is to bomb the atom and destroy it.

It sounds like a scenario in a Hollywood fantasy film, but American experts think this is the perfect plan that can stop an asteroid's onslaught toward Earth.

According to Space.com, Iowa State University scientists presented a method to use atomic bombs to destroy dangerous asteroids at a conference organized by NASA.

Called the asteroid interceptor vessel (HAIV for short ), the spacecraft will be deployed to encounter targets in space.

Next, use an ejection device to create an impact crater on the asteroid surface, then activate the nuclear warhead that is pre-installed in the device.

It is estimated that detonating an atomic bomb inside a collision hole increases the destruction efficiency by 20 times.

According to calculations, each such mission could cost about $ 500 million.

Bong Wie said that since the 20m-diameter meteorite exploded in the sky, the Russian city of Chelyabinsk, world experts have been working hard to study anti-asteroid technology.
