With this technology, adipose tissue stem cells will be taken by direct suction from the patient's belly fat and processed through several stages. After that, the finished product of the stem cell is mixed with platelet-rich plasma taken from the patient's blood, then injected into the patient's knee to promote treatment.

This stem cell will work as a repair and regeneration system by dividing into specialized cells with corresponding functions to replace damaged, diseased, functional or functional cells.

According to Dr. Nguyen Hoang Bac, the technology of adipose tissue stem cells has the outstanding feature of taking the patients' own tissue to use to treat them, so it is not necessary to depend on tissue banks and not afraid of reactions. transplant rejection of the body. In the near future, this advanced technology will be introduced into more popular applications in clinical treatment for patients in Vietnam.

Doctors at the Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy have also collaborated with US experts to apply adipose tissue stem cell technology to treat a female patient with osteoarthritis of the knee. This is the first patient to be treated with this technology at the hospital.
