7 rare Komodo dragons were born in a zoo in Indonesia, officials said on March 20.
Surabaya Zoo in eastern Java carried out a program to incubate a total of 21 Komodo dragon eggs divided into two batches in September and October last year. On March 10, seven dragons came out.
'Some eggs from the first batch did not hatch. This is also very normal. We hope to welcome 7-8 more in the second batch, which is expected to result in April or May, ' said zoo spokeswoman Anthan Warsito.
According to Mr. Warsito, the zoo is currently taking measures to protect newborn dragons from adult dragons because it is impossible to rule out the possibility that they eat cannibalism, and also attach micro-chips to monitor the situation.
