This process not only shows meticulousness, but also contains many secrets about the spirituality and religion of the ancient Egyptians.

The ancient Egyptians developed a complex method of preserving corpses, and that was mummification. This process not only demonstrated meticulousness, but also contained many secrets about the spirituality and religion of the ancient Egyptians.

The ancient Egyptian mummification process consisted of 8 steps:

Step 1 : The high priest (in charge of the sacrifice), the priest and the physician use water from the Nile River and palm wine to clean the body.

Step 2 : The priest will take out the easily decomposed internal organs. Next, they will be preserved separately in boxes or jars called canopic jars. Later, they will be buried with the mummy. The heart is kept intact because they believe that it is where the soul of a person as well as intelligence. The deceased will need them in the afterlife.

Step 3: People will remove pieces of brain tissue and fluid in the skull.

Step 4: The embalmer removes all moisture from the body by covering it with a drying salt and adding natron packets inside the body. Natron is a substance that inhibits decomposition. Once the body is completely dry, the natron packets are removed and rosin is rubbed all over the body to help the skin regain elasticity.

Step 5: The priest used water from the Nile to remove any remaining salt from the deceased's body. Next, some of the hollow areas on the body were filled with linen and other materials, including the placement of artificial eyes.

Step 6: Hundreds of meters of linen are used to wrap each finger, toe and the entire body.

Step 7 : The priests placed amulets between the layers of linen in the hope that they would help the deceased pass safely to the afterlife. The mummy was then placed in the coffin.

Step 8: The priest will wear the mask of Anubis and read prayers and incantations to complete the rituals to send the deceased to the afterlife, to enjoy eternal life with the gods.
