Vietnamese scientists have built a process of automatically forecasting the East Sea meteorological fields with high accuracy, capable of applying in many different fields. This auto-forecast information is continuously distributed on the Web, at http://www.rams-vnu.org .
This is the research result of 23 scientists from 6 different research agencies in the country. The scientists have selected, combining the most modernized models of meteorological and hydrological forecasting in the world into Vietnam such as models of RAMS, ROMS, WAM, STWAVE . to build the forecasting process short-term meteorological fields (1-3 days), medium term (7-10 days), and long-term (monthly average) to forecast storm trajectories.
When accessing http://www.rams-vnu.org, people will have immediate information: Weather forecast (wind, pressure, rainfall, humidity) in provinces and cities and on the East Sea; forecast cold air waves before 5 days, prolongation of cold periods; storm forecast before 5 - 7 days; heavy rain forecast for each area before 3 days; weather forecast point; thunderstorm forecast; Sea wave forecast, surge forecast.
The application of RAMS model and DELFT-3D software also helps scientists calculate storm surges. This result has a great meaning, because our country has a coastline of more than 2,000 km and every year the number of storms landed on our coast is quite a lot.
