Vietnam is ready to recruit donors - recipients for transplanting heads

"At present, Vietnam has not prepared a plan for head-to-head transplantation, but is prepared to select the first donor and recipient .". This is very interesting information that Prof. Dr. Trinh Hong Son, Deputy Director of Vietnam-Germany Friendship Hospital shared with the press on January 12, multiplying the scientific conference on organ transplant coordination.

Specifically, the Director of the National Center for Organ Transplant Coordination said, in the world, an Italian leading doctor announced in 2017 will perform the first head transplant in human history. Valery Spiridonov (Russian, 30 years old) - a patient suffering from rare spinal muscular atrophy and currently has no treatment - volunteered to join this first head transplant.

For more information about the technique of head grafting people who are preparing in the world, Prof. Trinh Hong Son said, currently, the team is expected to perform the first person transplantation in the world which has been prepared and trained carefully with 150 people, surgery time is expected in 2 days. Currently, the first grafting technique has been tested on about 1,000 mice, after being implanted, these mice can breathe, see and drink water, but only live for a few minutes.
