Mr Tinniswood was 112 years old.
Born in Liverpool on 26 August 1912, Mr Tinniswood was born the same year as the Titanic disaster. He has lived through two World Wars, as well as the influenza pandemic and the COVID-19 pandemic. He also holds the title of the oldest living World War II veteran.
In April this year, Guinness World Records confirmed Mr Tinniswood as the world's oldest man after Venezuelan Juan Vicente Perez died at the age of 114.
Mr Tinniswood, who does not smoke and rarely drinks alcohol, said the secret to longevity was "just luck", but advised others to pursue a balanced, healthy lifestyle.
In an interview, Mr Tinniswood once shared: 'Don't drink too much, eat too much or do too much. If you do something too much, eventually you will suffer the consequences'.
The oldest woman in the world is currently living, Tomiko Itooka, 116 years old, living in Japan.
