At the Conference, delegates discussed current issues in the field of Advanced Materials Science and Technology and Nano Technology with sub-committees: Sub-Committee for Advanced Materials in Electronics and Photonics; Subcommittee for Materials and Components with Nano structure; Nano Technology Subcommittee in Life Science and Environmental Technology. After that, scientists will participate in round table discussions on cooperation in materials science and Nano Technology in ASEAN countries and with members of the Asia-Pacific Center for Physics (APCTP) and advanced countries.

Discussion on the sidelines of the workshop, Chairman of the Conference, GS.VS Nguyen Van Hieu said, nowadays nano has become a field of interdisciplinary science and technology rather than physics. Conditional ASEAN countries such as Vietnam, Thailand, Philippines, Indonesia . have also begun to seek ways to solve urgent KT problems with nanotechnology.

Academician Nguyen Van Hieu: "Currently Vietnam is going too slow in the field of nanotechnology research"

Vietnam has also just begun to research nanotechnology, but it is not available in modern technology. Our country does not have a program on nanotechnology; Vietnamese scientists have not had research funding to bring this field of Vietnamese science to the same level as other countries in the region.

According to Prof. V. Nguyen Van Hieu, Seminar on advanced materials science and nanotechnology to enhance the research and application of materials science on nanotechnology in ASEAN countries. At the same time, strengthen awareness of nanotechnology in Vietnam, proceed to find solutions to many problems, such as developing nano-structured materials to help treat environmental pollution effectively. Or nano medicine, which helps increase drug use .

He also said that since Vietnam joined ASEAN in the field of Materials Science and Technology, ASEAN has never opened a conference like this; This could be considered the first ASEAN conference on nanotechnology.

Starting from this workshop, co-organizers (APCTP and ASEAN Materials Science and Technology Division) will in turn organize a series of biennial workshops in ASEAN countries. In parallel, the network of material science and technology laboratories in countries will be formed. The operation of this laboratory network is coordinated by the ASEAN Materials Science and Technology Division. The workshop was organized to further enhance the cooperation between these laboratories.

The seminar attracted nearly 200 Vietnamese scientists and over 100 international scientists from 24 different countries and territories, especially delegates from 9 out of 10 ASEAN countries attending the workshop.

Attending the seminar were representatives of many international organizations, many scientists from the US, France, Germany, Sweden, the Netherlands, Israel, Japan, Korea, China, Taipei, Australia . In the International Advisory Board of the Conference, there are 4 Nobel Prize winners and many leading scientists of advanced countries.
