The US Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) announced it had to send astronauts to make two walks out of the space to fix problems in the cooling system.

Earlier, half of the cooling system at ISS abruptly stopped operating on the evening of July 31 and made astronauts minimize energy use. Immediately after the incident, astronauts re-operated the ammonia cooling system but the switch was automatically disconnected.

According to the US Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), if there is no cooling system, the temperature on the ISS on the illuminated side can be up to 121 degrees Celsius, while on the dark side down to - 157 degrees C.

According to NASA, astronauts are expected to replace the cooling system with ammonium. The first walk will take place on August 5 and the second will take place 2-3 days later. This error has forced astronauts to suspend some devices on the station including Global Positioning System, some transformers and a control device.

The current weight of ISS is over 300 tons. Initially, scientists estimated the operating time of outer space ISS is 15 years. Currently, the countries participating in this project are planning to extend the ISS operation year to 2020.
